Art Basel Miami | Miami Art Week is a convergence of annual winter events for the international creative community. It started as a fine art fair and developed into a city-wide takeover. Artists, collectors, creative professionals, and institutions come together for one unforgettable week to celebrate the latest in contemporary art and culture. It’s an unparalleled event, and Polaroid Originals was thrilled to have a presence there last week.
Since it’s an established destination for contemporary art, the entire week presents an original look into the future of culture. It’s a platform for artists to share an international stage, and celebrate with the some of the art world’s biggest names. It’s also an environment in which the Polaroid Originals OneStep 2 camera was a natural fit.
This year, we partnered with Juxtapoz Magazine and Adidas Skateboarding on the Juxtapoz Club House and Urban Nation Artist Dinner. The clubhouse was a complete takeover of a iconic 3-story department store in Downtown Miami. The exhibition included art installations, murals, and site-specific projects alongside a special Adidas Showcase and featured the works by the likes of Shepard Fairey, Conor Harrington, Ron English, Low Bros, Jillian Evelyn, Alex Yanes, and Parker Day. We captured and shared the event on our film, providing a tangible memory for visitors.
People were particularly excited to use the OneStep 2 as a way to capture all the happenings in real time. We watched in wonder as one simple object created a multigenerational experience that connected attendees of all ages. Artists and visitors alike found new ways to interact and connect. It felt like a celebration of what is currently a radical movement in the digital age.
